Review of new features This book is a great introduction into getting something online, using standard templates and a DIY bilder tool set.In my instance, i found it informative and learned a lot, but I didn't feel my limited skills in the designing did it justice. With so many professional designers out there, i ended up opting for a professional build (using www.clickezy.com) where i was designed a custom brand new website and then given training and tools to make simple updates without paying a designer (which is where this product kicks in).If you have the time and inclination, go for it! Otherwise, if you know your limitations in design, etc..(not to mention online strategy, marketing, search engine optimisation, the list goes on!) maybe best to use a pro such as clickezy.com to set it up for you, and then take the reigns with them as a safety net should things go wrong.Best of luck!

An okay HDTV I purchased this TCL brand LE39FHDF3300TA television one week ago and listed below is a brief summary of my observations to date.- The screen does not have anti-glare treatment so room lights are annoyingly visible while watching TV.- Off axis viewing is not good. There is obvious color and contrast shift when viewing the screen off center.- Digital audio output uses S/PDIF coaxial cable connection. This might necessitate purchasing a converter if you require TOSLINK fiber-optic or analog lineout connections.- Digital audio settings are provided for Dolby, PCM, or off. This should accommodate most home theater or stereo systems.- Poor sound quality using the internal TV speakers, equalization adjustment has little effect on the sound.- There are no analog audio outputs other than headphones.- TV dissipates very little heat, uses LED backlighting.- When installed into a cabinet the edge of the screen could be obscured by the cabinet depending on cabinet size. The screen sits back 3 inches from the front edge of the TV stand.- Easy to setup and use, light weight.- Low price when compared to other brands.- Two year warranty is longer than most assuming service is available when needed.

Awesome TV First of all, when you buy anything, you assume that the cheaper the item, the lower the quality. This is not the case. I bought the 39" version and could not be happier. just a heads up, i bought this TV to use for my computer and xbox360 only.Pros:-Very slick design-Amazing 1080p, watching blu-ray movies is a treat, everything is clear-Extremely cheap for the specs, will no find another TV for same price with same specs.Cons:-Sound sucks. But hey! it's a television! made for viewing, not listening.-Stand does not spin and is made of glass.. yikes, careful not to break it. However it looks really nice.-Not too many picture adjustable options!!!!!!INFORMATIVE FACTS!!!!!!!!!!-In case you didnt do your research and is skeptical about buying this TV, it is a chinese manufacturer, that uses SAMSUNG screens in their TVs. The reason they are so cheap, is because they have a really good screen and no super duper features. If you need something to display movies and such, this is perfect.-If you are going to use this TV as a monitor, BUY IT!, People are not aware that if they try to buy a 120hz tv, it will be useless with their computer, as computers output at 60hz. In fact, a 120hz is actually lagging with a PC. Personally, if you ask me, watching a movie with 120hz just looks weird. It is only useful if watching sports. This TV gives the best movie experience.-I fixed the lame sound quality by purchasing logitech LS21 speakers 2.1. I gotta say, that it sounds absolutely amazing. Unless you are one of those weirdos that listens specifically to get some crazy ass sound, get those speakers and plug em in. Problem solved. No need to spend $$$$ on a home theater system.XBOX!:For some reason my games looked pretty bad when i started playing them. Heads up!: adjust the sharpness of the TV to about 25% so it's is not as sharp. The best auto setting to be on is "cinematic" if you do not like fiddling with the TV.PC!: for me, I am using a HDMI to DVI cable from my graphics card but for some reason it doesnt auto detect the TV on boot. (on ATI graphics cards). EDIT: just found the solution. Set your graphics card software to scan for TVs on startup.Overall: This is a pretty awesome TV, especially for the price.UPDATE: 1/9/2013: TV is still amazing. Playing games on the 360 is still awesome. I got greedy and bought z-5500 speakers from craigslist and a coax digital cable. I now have a massive home theater with about $1000 off of what it would cost me originally. *drool*Update: 4/1/2013: Sold this thing in perfect working condition and bought the 55" version.

Sloppy Book, Sloppy Code? I set out to write a scathing review of this book after wasting money on it. Instead, I took some time to collect my thoughts before actually committing words to the page. I wish the author of this book had done the same. The "English" used in this book could only barely be called such. For a native English speaker such as myself, the overly-familiar, almost childlike approach to prose that the author has adopted is very distracting. There are blatant errors in the book, and that's not nit-picking; the book probably averages a glaring error every couple of pages. I don't claim to be the world's most polished author, but I'd want to re-write this book cover-to-cover before I'd ever try reading it again. The coding "standards" professed in this book are horrible for beginning coders, and make little sense. They don't follow any of the accepted "major" PHP standards, and seem to be an amalgamation of non-PHP languages and basic object-oriented principles. The book does a terrible job of introducing any level of programmer to object-oriented design ideas. Although OOP is one of the most difficult concepts to teach to another person, this book is NOT the place you want to start if you're just picking it up. I am an experienced OO coder and the book had my head spinning with its contradictions, erroneous information, and terrible analogies. The code examples are poorly written snippets of barely functional code in many cases. I'm not sure where Packt Publishing got the idea that this author was even remotely qualified to write this book, but if their "About the Author" section is any indication, no one at the publishing house writes English very well, either.I am really trying not to be as harsh as I could be here, but I will say that it's questionable whether this book went through ANY level of editorial review. Sure, the author is from Bangladesh, but if there was a language barrier involved, couldn't someone have translated the book into slightly more passable English? I don't know if Packt Publishing is a "vanity" publishing house that doesn't have editors, but I will definitely stay FAR away from their books in the future. In my opinion, you should do the same with THIS book. There are far better books on the subject, and you'd only be wasting your money on this one.

I bought this one as my first choice As a beginner seeking to develop as much beginning-to-intermediate knowledge and information about PHP and MySQL as possible in the coming two months, I went to local book stores to see all the titles offered on these two topics -- and to select the best."Core Web Application Development with PHP and MySQL" by Marc Wandschneider was the book I bought. -- [Jump down to later portions of this review if you don't want to read about how terrific the page layouts are.]This newly published title offers the perfect blend of depth, high readability, quality writing, and outstandingly handsome and clean page design and layout -- a significant attribute in the face of so many computer books on store shelves with layouts that are so cramped, ugly, cluttered and dense. Many computer books offer wasted galaxies of white space wrapped around text which itself has been reduced to microscopically small unreadability. In contrast, this book utilizes white space in perfect elegance and moderation. The typeface is never too tiny, and it changes frequently in helpful and readable ways. The author owes the editor and designer a high debt of gratitude for the rare and incredible job of page design.OK, Yes, the Contents: As a motivated beginner I cannot fully address the technical content itself (since I have yet to master it), but I recognize good books -- and well-written books -- when I see them. This is one. -- [Another review located here provides a detailed breakdown of the contents, chapter-by-chapter.]In my estimation, this book is targeted to the motivated beginner through high intermediate user, and I only say high intermediate because this generous book of 787 pages does not strive to be the super overly-complete master compendium bible on PHP and MySQL, but only a highly accessible and informative one, while still offering the reader a very nice learning curve for growth, challenge and involvement. The essence of this book is captured in this phrase: "Challenging content; invitingly written; easily digested."The author is to be thanked for the wonderfully clear and straightforward foundational explanations he provides in the text before bringing readers into the heart of each chapter. Those central parts of each chapter are momentarily beyond my capacity, but the outstanding introductory material at the start of almost every chapter is an immensely useful service to the motivated beginner.Soon as I give myself a brush-up on X/HTML tags and some generic programming/coding concepts like functions and variables and calls and loops and conditionals and arrays, this beginner will be nicely prepared to dig most productively into this terrific new offering of a book.PS -- If the beginner is not striving to be "super system administrator supreme," then by adding the above book to these several others below, he/she will have a great beginning collection by which to get a confident handle on MySQL and PHP programming concepts and skills:-- Learning PHP 5 by David Sklar (O'Reilly)-- PHP 5 in easy steps by Mike McGrath (Barnes & Noble!)-- MySQL Essential Skills by John Horn/Michael Grey (McGraw Hill/Osborne)-- MySQL Complete Reference -- Vikram Vaswani (McGraw Hill/Osborne)Yes, I do know what the super-comprehensive "bibles" on MySQL/PHP are, and some are very successful and I may use some of them in future, but I find that I usually NEVER read "the big bibles" all the way through. In contrast, you (if a beginner) will definitely enjoy reading the above five volumes ALL the way through, especially this delicious title at hand: "Core Web Application Development with PHP and MySQL" by Marc Wandschneider.

This is one. — [Another review located here provides a detailed breakdown of the contents, chapter-by-chapter.]In my estimation, this book is targeted to the motivated beginner through high intermediate user, and I only say high intermediate because this generous book of 787 pages does not strive to be the super overly-complete master compendium bible on PHP and MySQL, but only a highly accessible and informative one, while still offering the reader a very nice learning curve for growth, challenge and involvement. The essence of this book is captured in this phrase: “Challenging content; invitingly written; easily digested.”The author is to be thanked for the wonderfully clear and straightforward foundational explanations he provides in the text before bringing readers into the heart of each chapter. Those central parts of each chapter are momentarily beyond my capacity, but the outstanding introductory material at the start of almost every chapter is an immensely useful service to the motivated beginner.Soon as I give myself a brush-up on X/HTML tags and some generic programming/coding concepts like functions and variables and calls and loops and conditionals and arrays, this beginner will be nicely prepared to dig most productively into this terrific new offering of a book.PS — If the beginner is not striving to be “super system administrator supreme,” then by adding the above book to these several others below, he/she will have a great beginning collection by which to get a confident handle on MySQL and PHP programming concepts and skills:– Learning PHP 5 by David Sklar (O’Reilly)– PHP 5 in easy steps by Mike McGrath (Barnes & Noble!)– MySQL Essential Skills by John Horn/Michael Grey (McGraw Hill/Osborne)– MySQL Complete Reference — Vikram Vaswani (McGraw Hill/Osborne)Yes, I do know what the super-comprehensive “bibles” on MySQL/PHP are, and some are very successful and I may use some of them in future, but I find that I usually NEVER read “the big bibles” all the way through. In contrast, you (if a beginner) will definitely enjoy reading the above five volumes ALL the way through, especially this delicious title at hand: “Core Web Application Development with PHP and MySQL” by Marc Wandschneider.

The worst - almost unreadable I often see 1 star reviews for textbooks I have used and think that the reviewers must be too picky, or they are outright wrong. Oftentimes the 1 star reviews for programming books come from those who the learning style doesn't appeal to, and often to either well-experienced programmers or total beginners. This was not the case with this book. It was a required book for my class and, two weeks into the semester, I am basically chucking it and hoping for the best buying another and matching it to the syllabus. There is the fact that it is somewhat outdated, but this is a minor fact. There is the greater problem that concepts are brought up with no explanation and no reference to how they relate to what the book is handling at the time, but even this I could grudgingly deal with. What is completely atrocious about this book is the number of errors. I'm not talking minor typos, either. This book screws up syntax in the code constantly. It is so bad, and so frequent, that any example the book makes has to be evaluated line by line, because it seems that it screws up almost as often as it gets it right. I'm not kidding. I would bet (uneducated guess, because I give up with it) that a good 25% of the examples used would not even run due to errors. I've never ripped a textbook this bad before and hopefully never will have to again, but this book is, to me, ABSOLUTELY worthless as a teaching tool.
